Everyday in May # 19 work in progress
A little bit of a cheating day.....work in progress.....oil on canvas. This is my second session on it.
It's based on the drawing I did here (on my first EDiM) http://debra.morris.hk/2010/05/every-day-in-may-14.html but the fun thing about oils is that the painting can start having a life of its own. (where did that urge to paint a wooden background come from, I wonder?)
There's a story behind the original painting. I finished it and went on my balcony, only to see my oldest cat being attacked by a dog (I think he thought she was a toy). She didn't survive but her health had been poor and maybe just couldn't get away in time. The dog owner was very upset as he had just run off. It was just her time.
You've seen a very quick sketch of her but here's an update of the acrylic painting that I'd forgotten about until today.

Everyday in May # 14 feather
A very fluffy feather. I ran out of watercolour paper so painted this on the inside thin separating wood used in cigar boxes, so no I didn't paint the wood. I'd forgotten how absorbent it is, but this was fun.

Everyday in May # 12 seeds
A busy teaching day today, seed pods I've collected from the beach. (The big ones are about 2 1/2"-3" or 6-7cm long)
I'll paint them tomorrow but the pizza is on its way!

Everyday in May # 9 Chrysanthemums
in progress or most likely to be abandoned....ran out of time.....there's always one day in May when this happens...sketched in my lesson and hastily painted when I got home. Too tired to tackle the subtleties of Chrysanthemums.....
